Job summary

Great West Casualty Company in South Sioux City, NE is seeking a Data Science Intern to gain hands-on experience applying analytics techniques in a business setting. You'll work alongside seasoned professionals on real data projects while developing core skills in data processing, modeling, and visualization.

You will collect, clean, and analyze datasets, build dashboards, and contribute to predictive modeling and statistical analyses.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for working with data.
• Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis techniques.
• Experience with SQL and familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar platforms is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, cleaning, and analyzing large datasets from multiple sources.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate key business insights.
• Support predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning initiatives.
• Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities within data to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with business partners to understand data needs and provide analytical solutions.
