Job summary

Mercor is hiring a Data Science Intern to join a fast-moving, metrics-driven engineering team. You’ll analyze data affecting ranking, hiring efficiency, candidate experience, and revenue, working with real datasets and prototyping models to improve how we match talent to AI companies.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, PMs, and leadership to design experiments, evaluate LLM-powered systems, and build data foundations across the platform.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in a quantitative field; graduation 2026–2028.
• Strong fundamentals in statistics, SQL and Python.
• Experience with experiment design, causal reasoning, and data analysis.
• Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product managers, and leadership.
• Curiosity about LLM evaluation, retrieval, ranking, or marketplace dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Define north-star metrics and feature KPIs for ranking, interview analytics, and payouts systems.
• Design and run A/B tests and quasi-experiments; translate results into product decisions.
• Build dashboards and lightweight data models for self-serve insights.
• Instrument events with engineers and improve data quality and observability.
• Prototype models to improve matching and scoring systems.
• Evaluate LLM-powered agents through rubric design and human-in-the-loop testing.
