Our AI&ML Division within Ascend Learning Technology Advancement Organization is seeking a motivated, energetic Data Science Intern with background in data science & machine learning and good communication skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about extracting meaningful insights from complex data and using those insights to drive decision‑making. This internship will provide hands‑on data science experience and an opportunity to work with cutting‑edge technology.

As a Data Science Intern, you will collaborate closely with our team of expert data scientists, engineers, architects, and quality engineers. You will contribute to the experimentation and development of advanced analytics models to drive innovation and business solutions. The intern will be reporting to the Director of Data Science.

This position will work hybrid from our Leawood, KS office.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to understand business challenges and analytical requirements.
• Design and execute experiments, engage in rapid prototyping, and implement solutions by crafting predictive and machine learning models to deliver actionable insights.
• Visualize and communicate data analysis and findings in a clear and effective manner using appropriate tools.
• Utilize advanced data and AI platforms, including Snowflake, SQL Server, Azure ML to develop queries and construct ML models.
• Thoroughly document and manage project requirements, data, and technical details to ensure continuity and reference for future projects.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science or Data Analytics related field
• Knowledge of various statistical and machine learning techniques such as classification, regression, clustering, natural language processing
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R and familiarity with SQL.
• Experience with data science toolkits and libraries (e.g., scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, Keras, pandas).
• Experience with LLM and Langchain, Azure ML is a plus.
• Strong problem solving, strong conceptual thinking, and effective communication skills.
