Job summary

MetOx International is seeking a Data Science Co-op/Intern at our Houston headquarters to collect, analyze, and interpret complex datasets, supporting data-driven decisions across operations. You will work with AI-assisted tools and large language models to accelerate work while ensuring accuracy and usefulness.

You will gain experience in data collection, modeling, and visualization, collaborating with engineering and production teams to improve efficiency and quality in our energy technology

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a bachelor's degree (sophomore standing or above) in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Prior exposure to data science, data engineering, or a related field through coursework, personal projects, or other relevant experience.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and general connectivity troubleshooting.
• Basic familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including writing simple queries (SELECT, JOIN, WHERE).
• Hands-on experience using an AI-assisted IDE or coding assistant (e.g., Cursor) on coursework or projects (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Gather, clean, and preprocess data from databases, historians, sensors, and systems.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and relationships in production data.
• Develop ML models for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and process optimization.
• Create dashboards and reports to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to deploy data-driven solutions.
