Job description

Summary:

The Data Science Analyst will support the company with insights gained from analyzing company data. The candidate must be adept at using large data sets to find opportunities and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. To succeed in this position, you must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building, and implementing models, using/creating algorithms, and creating/running simulations. You must have a proven ability to drive business results with your data-based insights. This also includes working with both internal and external customers to understand their needs. The candidate must have a strong understanding and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Job Functions:

  1. Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions.
  2. Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
  3. Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  4. Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  5. Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
  6. Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  7. Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  8. Develop company A/B testing framework and test model quality and stay up to date on the latest industry trends and providing executive reporting.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director Business Analytics.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

Position will work directly from the corporate office with minimum travel. Required to attend department and company meetings.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, or related experience.
  2. Minimum 3 years of professional experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods.
  3. Experience in data modelling, process mapping and specification documentation.
  4. Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: Python, R, SQL, etc.
  5. Demonstrated experience applying data science methods to real-world data problems.
  6. Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining system processes and procedures.
  7. Experience in creating business cases for technology-related solutions.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  10. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks, use initiative and be self-directed to meet deadlines.
  11. Proficient MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio user.
  12. Strong ability to engage and influence stakeholders, at all levels across the business.
  13. Strong organizational skills including outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
