Job summary

Dermalogica is seeking a Senior Data Engineer focused on Data Quality & Systems Forensics to join a 6-month engagement. You will investigate data discrepancies across ERP, e‑commerce, SQL Server, ETL, and cloud warehouses, driving issues to resolution with strong forensic skills and independent operation.

You will own data quality backlogs, validate changes, and help harden the data environment while communicating findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on data engineering in production environments.
• Deep experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including complex queries, views, stored procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, system integrations, and data warehouse architecture.
• Proven experience diagnosing and resolving data integrity or data quality incidents.
• Ability to trace data across multiple systems to identify source of truth.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and root-cause data discrepancies across source systems, databases, integrations, data warehouses, and reporting layers.
• Trace data end-to-end to understand transformations, mappings, and business rules causing incorrect results.
• Own a backlog of data quality issues from investigation through remediation and closure.
• Audit SQL jobs, stored procedures, ETL processes, dependencies, and transformation logic for fragility.
• Eliminate hardcoded rules, silent failures, incomplete loads, and duplicate data.
• Correct issues at the architectural layer, not via downstream patches.
• Backfill missing data and reconcile results to source systems.
• Improve master-data mappings where logic is inconsistent for reporting.
• Replace fragile manual processes with governed, monitored pipelines.
• Build automated reconciliation, health checks, and alerting for data failures.
• Improve dependency management, change controls, and reload processes.
• Document data lineage, system dependencies, and ownership.
