Job summary

Vanguard in Malvern, PA is seeking a Data Product Manager to lead a family of master and reference data products, owning the vision, roadmap, and value delivery across the data lifecycle.

You will collaborate with data engineering, analytics, platform, governance, and business teams to establish governance, data quality frameworks, and scalable architectures, while translating business needs into portfolio roadmaps and ensuring durable data solutions across the organization.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree or equivalent hands-on experience in data engineering, analytics, or related disciplines preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in data product management, data engineering, analytics, or closely related roles.
• Proven experience owning product vision and roadmaps across multiple, interdependent data products or domains.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional initiatives and operate effectively in high-complexity, high-ambiguity environments.
• Strong technical fluency in data architectures, data modeling, SQL-based analysis, pipeline orchestration, and data quality frameworks and management.

Responsibilities

• Own strategic product leadership for a family of master and reference data products, with end‑to‑end accountability for vision, roadmap, and value delivery across the data lifecycle.
• Define and evolve the target-state architecture and operating model for MDM and RDM, guiding maturity progression across domains while balancing governance, scalability, usability, and speed.
• Lead cross-functional alignment across data engineering, analytics engineering, platform, governance, and business teams to set and operationalize enterprise standards for data modeling, data quality frameworks, data contracts, and lifecycle ownership.
• Translate complex and often ambiguous business needs into cohesive portfolio-level roadmaps, sequencing initiatives based on risk and business impact.
• Maintain strong technical credibility through hands-on SQL and data analysis when needed, while primarily operating at a system-level view across multiple interdependent data products.
• Oversee resolution of complex, cross-product production issues, driving root cause analysis and durable remediation for data quality defects, pipeline failures, and downstream analytics breakages.
• Establish and continuously improve data product delivery practices including portfolio backlog management, dependency orchestration, CI/CD for data pipelines, observability, and data freshness monitoring.
• Drive adoption, trust, and consistency of master and reference data across operational systems, analytics, and reporting by improving discoverability, reliability, and clarity of ownership.
• Influence enterprise planning and investment decisions by representing data product risk, technical constraints, and long-term sustainability in senior stakeholder forums.
