Major Duties
  • Develop tools and processes used to maintain a common, data standard across the organization.
  • Assess, manage, maintain strategies that reduce data redundancy and increases the consistency / confidence of data used for decision making; improving knowledge firm-wide.
  • Define and deliver data management standards, processes and controls and content for the creation and maintenance of common data dictionaries.
  • Participates in periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with the data governance policies (includes compliance assessments, monitoring and control testing).
  • Resolves conflicting priorities among data owners, data consumers and custodians within sphere of the domain.
  • Drive efficiency and risk mitigation through balancing business value and cost working with data owners, and consumers to deliver an efficient operating model and data architecture.
  • Collaborates with partners across the organization in maintaining the data governance and data quality structures ensuring we are meeting business needs while balancing quality, risk and cost.
  • Coordinate and implement data quality remediation efforts to ensure data meets the standards identified by the enterprise.
  • Experienced, functional expert with technical and/or business knowledge and functional expertise
  • Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues
  • Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to help improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
  • Strategic in developing, implementing and administering programs within functional areas
  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication
Knowledge
  • Strong understanding and capable of effectively communicating the role of Data Governance to both business and technical communities within the sphere of data domain; possess broad knowledge of the domain data
  • Understand key business drivers of those functions which enter, modify, manage and consume the data within domain
  • Understand all aspects of defining and implementing data quality management
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Possess exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities
Experience
  • Strong understanding and capable of effectively communicating the role of Data Governance to both business and technical communities within the sphere of data domain; possess broad knowledge of the domain data

Salary Range

$95,600 - 162,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
