Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an associate with 3+ years of experience to join its Data Protection, Privacy and Security practice. This role offers the opportunity to advise leading global organizations on privacy, cybersecurity, and data governance matters with direct client engagement in Washington, DC or New York.

The successful candidate will contribute to enterprise-level privacy programs, stay current on regulatory developments, and work within a collaborative, AmLaw 100 environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or regulatory advisory work preferred.
• Exposure to global privacy programs, incident response, or compliance frameworks is advantageous.
• In-house or regulatory experience is a plus, particularly in industries handling sensitive data or emerging technologies.
• Bar admission: District of Columbia and New York.
• In-house or regulatory experience is a plus, especially in sensitive data industries.
• Direct and applicable AmLaw 100 firm experience.

Responsibilities

• Legal Research: conduct thorough research and analysis to support case/transaction strategy.
• Legal Writing: draft briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence.
• Case/Transaction Assistance and Management: assist/manage complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution.
• Client Interaction: build and maintain strong client relationships with timely updates and clear communication.
• Collaboration: work with lawyers and professionals to develop strategies achieving favorable outcomes.
• Attend and participate in high-level legal activities including hearings, depositions, negotiations, trials.
• Compliance: stay updated on changes in law and precedents; ensure diligence and accuracy.
• Professional Development: engage in ongoing training to enhance knowledge and leadership skills.
