Job summary

United Future, a premier AmLaw 50 law firm, seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice in Palo Alto or Austin. You will handle sophisticated privacy, data processing, and cybersecurity matters arising in corporate and technology transactions.

Candidates should have a JD from a top-tier law school, CA or TX bar admission, 1–3 years of privacy/cybersecurity/transactional experience, and a track record in M&A, capital markets, or tech transactions.

Qualifications

• JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
• Active Bar Admission in California or Texas, in good standing.
• 1–3 years of substantive privacy, data processing, cybersecurity, and transactional experience.
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, or technology transactions.
• Experience advising clients in technology-focused industries is preferred.
• CIPP certification is a plus.
• Strong analytical, drafting, and client-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on privacy, data processing, and cybersecurity issues in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and other commercial transactions.
• Conduct privacy and cybersecurity diligence in corporate and technology deals.
• Draft, review, and negotiate transaction-related privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity provisions and agreements.
• Counsel clients on privacy compliance obligations and risk management in complex transactions.
• Collaborate with attorneys across corporate, technology, IP, and regulatory practices on domestic and cross-border matters.
• Work with innovative companies in AI, machine learning, cloud computing, software, and fintech.
