Job summary

Ramsey County in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Data Practices Officer to join its Compliance and Ethics Office. The role leads countywide data practices administration, ensuring MG DPA compliance and guidance across departments.

The ideal candidate will have experience in data privacy, records management, information governance, and project management, with strong analytical and communication skills. The position is hybrid with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Risk Management, Compliance, Communications, English, Business Admin, Public Policy, Public Administration, Information Management, or similar).
• Four years of professional experience in data practices administration, data privacy or information governance, records management, or related fields.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) and related regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement policies to ensure compliance with the MG DPA and regulations.
• Provide guidance on data privacy laws and public records requirements.
• Coordinate and manage cross-department data requests and information management practices.
• Collaborate with leadership and legal, communications, and other stakeholders to ensure proper data practices.
• Develop and maintain countywide training programs on data practices and records requests.
• Serve as SME for data practices management systems and tools.
