Job summary

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) seeks a Manager Data Platform Operations to lead the enterprise database and cloud data platforms. You will oversee administration, reliability, security, and modernization across SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Snowflake, and related services, ensuring production stability and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, or data-related field.
• 5-7 years in database admin or data platform operations.
• 3-5 years leading teams in enterprise environments.
• Experience with production DB platforms: availability, security, backup/recovery.
• Strong knowledge of Azure and SQL Server ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Platform Operations team for admin, reliability, security, and modernization.
• Own day-to-day coverage for SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Snowflake, and more.
• Oversee access management, reviews, and least-privilege controls.
• Coordinate change management, deployment review, and rollback planning.
• Ensure monitoring, incident response, and performance optimization.
• Drive automation, runbooks, and cost management.
