Job summary

Crown Equipment Corporation seeks a senior leader to own the enterprise data platform strategy and roadmap. You will guide a team of data engineers and platform specialists, partnering with IT, BI, and ERP teams to deliver scalable, secure data capabilities across the organization.

The role requires deep experience with cloud platforms, data governance, and end-to-end data integrations from SAP/ERP systems, enabling self-service analytics for business users while controlling cost and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field with 8+ years of related experience
  • Non-degree candidate considered with 16+ years of related experience and high school diploma or GED
  • Occasional travel (0–5%)

Responsibilities

  • Own vision, strategy, and roadmap for the enterprise data platform
  • Lead and develop a team of data engineers and platform specialists
  • Define platform architecture standards, governance, and best practices for data management
  • Understand requirements across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and IT
  • Establish platform KPIs and metrics to measure performance and cost-efficiency
  • Drive evolution to a modern, cloud-native data platform
  • Architect and oversee scalable, secure cloud-based data platform
  • Design data integration frameworks to extract, transform, and load from SAP, IFS, Quipware, BAAN, and others
  • Build robust data pipelines using PySpark and SQL
  • Establish self-service analytics for business users
  • Implement data quality, lineage, and observability solutions
  • Ensure platform security, compliance, and governance
  • Own end-to-end data platform infrastructure
  • Evaluate and integrate technologies for data warehousing, lakes, orchestration, cataloging
  • Manage cloud infrastructure, performance, scalability, and cost
  • Establish DevOps/DataOps including CI/CD
  • Manage vendor relationships with cloud providers and partners
  • Collaborate with IT to integrate with enterprise systems
  • Partner with Analytics/BI/Data Science teams to enable use cases
  • Work with ERP owners to design data extraction/integration patterns

Primary Responsibilities
  • Own vision, strategy, and roadmap for the enterprise data platform, aligning with business objectives and manufacturing operations needs.
  • Lead and develop a team of data engineers and platform specialists, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
  • Define platform architecture standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for data management.
  • Understand requirements across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and IT to deliver platform capabilities that drive value.
  • Establish platform KPIs and metrics to measure performance, reliability, cost-efficiency, and business impact.
  • Drive evolution from legacy data systems to a modern, cloud-native data platform.
  • Architect and oversee development of scalable, secure cloud-based data platform using modern technologies and best practices.
  • Design and implement data integration frameworks to extract, transform, and load data from SAP, IFS, Quipware, BAAN, and other enterprise systems.
  • Build robust data pipelines using PySpark, SQL, and cloud-native services for batch and real-time data processing.
  • Establish self-service analytics capabilities, enabling business users to access and analyze data independently.
  • Implement comprehensive data quality, lineage, and observability solutions across platform.
  • Ensure platform security, compliance, and data governance in alignment with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Own the end-to-end data platform infrastructure including ingestion, storage, processing, and consumption layers.
  • Evaluate, select, and integrate technologies and tools that enhance platform capabilities (data warehousing, data lakes, orchestration, cataloging, etc.).
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and optimize performance, scalability, and cost.
  • Establish DevOps and DataOps practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Manage vendor relationships with cloud providers, technology partners, and system integrators.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration with enterprise systems and infrastructure.
  • Partner with Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Data Science teams to enable their use cases on the platform.
  • Work with ERP system owners to design optimal data extraction and integration patterns.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, along with at least 8 years of related experience.
    • Non-degree considered if 16+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
  • Occasional Travel (0-5%)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree is preferred. 10+ years of experience in data platform, data engineering, or related roles, with at least 4 years in leadership capacity.
  • Proven track record of building and operating enterprise-scale data platforms in Fabric / Azure for manufacturing or similar industries.
  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and compliance frameworks. Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement certifications.

A reasonable commute to the New Bremen, OH location is necessary.
