Job summary

FloQast is seeking an Engineering Manager, Data Platform, to lead a team building and operating data ingestion, governance, storage, processing, and access across FloQast's product and analytics systems. This is a deeply technical role—half your time is coding and designing systems, the other half growing the people doing that work.

You'll apply this blend across our lakehouse stack (Iceberg on S3, MWAA, AWS Glue, Trino/Athena, MSK, and more) while guiding architecture decisions and leading the

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience in data infrastructure, distributed systems, or backend platform engineering.
• Hands-on production experience with Spark and tuning PySpark vs Scala Spark.
• Familiarity with lakehouse stack: Iceberg, Kafka/MSK, Airflow/MWAA, Trino or Athena, and cloud AWS services.
• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, and building data access APIs or platform tooling.
• 2+ years of engineering management or formal tech lead experience.

Responsibilities

• Write production code and lead architectural design on the data platform, pipelines, storage layers, access APIs, and observability.
• Own technical decisions on streaming architecture and table management.
• Review code to raise the bar and shape distributed-systems thinking.
• Drive tooling choices with a bias toward operational simplicity and maintainability.
• Contribute to data governance: quality, lineage, access control, and GDPR/SOC2 compliance.
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, and incident calls with engineers.
• Own the team's roadmap and sequencing of technical work.
• Run recruiting as a technical process and define hiring standards.
