Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Data Platform team in a hybrid role based in San Diego, with occasional onsite requirements. You will build large-scale data platforms powering PlayStation features and collaborate with global teams to deliver data-driven insights.

You'll work on scalable data pipelines, analytics, and ETL/ELT processes while ensuring high availability in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required.
• 3+ years designing scalable distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Scala, Java, or Python.
• Experience with AWS or cloud-based services.
• Exposure to Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS and Spark/Flink.
• Understanding CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy data platform code.
• Collaborate with global teams across time zones.
• Support data cataloging, analytics, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize.
• Build services for structured and unstructured data.
• Participate in on-call rotation for production support.
• Contribute to platform documentation and demos.
• Follow testing, monitoring, and deployment best practices.
• Learn and apply new data platform tools and patterns.
