Job summary

SMBC Group in New York is seeking a data platform engineer to design, develop, and maintain reference data systems for securities and pricing data, and later expand to other domains. You will work closely with business teams, product managers, and IT security to ensure scalable APIs and robust data delivery.

The role requires a Master’s degree in CS with 4+ years of experience, and hands-on skills in Python, Azure Databricks, Spark, Polars, and Bloomberg reference data.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or related field with 4+ years of experience.
• Experience in Python, building resilient APIs, and working with data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and develop data platform components for securities and pricing data.
• Collaborate with business teams, product managers, and IT to capture requirements.
• Coordinate with architects, DBAs, and security to ensure backend functionality.
• Partner with UI/UX and frontend engineers to optimize user experience.
• Coordinate integration with larger software ecosystem and attend development meetings.
