Job summary

Atlas World Group, Inc. in Evansville, IN is seeking a Database & Data Platform Engineer to support and optimize SQL Server environments and advance our cloud-driven data platform strategy.

You will work with Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Data Factory, tackling performance tuning, security, backups, and CI/CD, while collaborating with data engineers and developers to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain SQL Server production, QA, and development environments to ensure availability, performance, and reliability.
• Monitor database health, capacity, and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Troubleshoot database and application-related incidents and participate in on-call support as needed.
• Perform query tuning, performance optimization, indexing reviews, and execution plan analysis.
• Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Administer database security, permissions, and access controls.
• Support database upgrades, patching, migrations, and environment refresh activities.
• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders on database design and data requirements.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational standards.
• Support Microsoft Azure SQL, Azure data services, and cloud-based database initiatives.
• Assist with Microsoft Fabric implementation, administration, and platform optimization.
• Support Azure Data Factory pipelines and data integration processes.
• Contribute to data engineering, ETL/ELT, and data modernization initiatives.
• Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and other scripting tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Participate in CI/CD, source control, monitoring, and deployment activities for database and data platform solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts that enhance reliability, scalability, and overall platform performance.
