Within Verisign, our team is responsible for building and managing the Verisign Data Platform, enabling the creation of large-scale, high-throughput data products and services that deliver actionable operational and business intelligence. To help us advance this platform, we are seeking a skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).

The ideal candidate should have a passion for big data systems and automation, be fluent in Java, and eager to learn. They should possess a solid understanding of core Computer Science concepts and have hands-on experience managing large-scale distributed systems. Typically, these competencies are acquired through a bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of practical experience. We are also open to candidates with alternative career paths.

The candidate will be involved in all aspects of the data platform, including ideation, design, implementation, deployment, customer onboarding, and support. This role requires regular collaboration with Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Engineering, Security, and Operations teams. We expect the candidate to take ownership of the data platform, proactively interacting with internal customers to identify, prioritize, and fulfill their needs.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of practical experience
• Experience architecting, deploying, and managing large-scale data platforms (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, Druid) on Kubernetes
• Experience developing and maintaining custom Java and Python applications to enhance platform capabilities
• Experience automating deployments using CI/CD tools like Ansible and Jenkins

Preferred Experience:

• Experience ensuring platform SLOs through telemetry collection, visualization, and alerting
• Experience upgrading large-scale data platforms to improve capabilities and security with minimal customer impact
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed environments
• Staying current with industry best practices, especially in hybrid cloud environments
• Supporting data platform customers

The pay range is $135,800 - $183,800. The actual salary offered may vary based on experience and skills. Verisign provides a discretionary bonus based on performance, and some roles may be eligible for stock awards.
