Panos Foods is seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to manage and optimize our Microsoft SQL Server environments and enterprise reporting systems.

The role focuses on database administration, performance tuning, reliability, and troubleshooting in a production environment, with hands-on Tableau Cloud support and data pipelines. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of independently diagnosing complex issues.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration in production environments.
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning.
• Experience with database maintenance, backups, recovery, security, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on Tableau Cloud administration, including data extracts, refreshes, permissions, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience implementing or troubleshooting row-level security in Tableau and SQL Server.
• ETL development using SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory.

Responsibilities

Panos Foods is seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize our Microsoft SQL Server environments and enterprise reporting systems.

The primary focus of this role is database administration, performance tuning, reliability, and troubleshooting in a production environment. The position also requires hands-on experience administering Tableau Cloud and supporting the data pipelines and reporting solutions that drive business operations.

The ideal candidate is technically hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of independently diagnosing and resolving complex database and reporting issues.

Key Responsibilities

SQL Server Administration and Performance

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments.
• Diagnose and resolve database performance issues by analyzing queries, execution plans, indexes, and server resources.
• Manage database backups, recovery, security, data integrity, and high availability.
• Perform database maintenance, upgrades, migrations, and ongoing performance optimization.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures.

Tableau Cloud and Business Intelligence

• Administer Tableau Cloud, including data sources, extracts, refresh schedules, permissions, and performance.
• Implement and troubleshoot row-level security across Tableau and SQL Server.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, analytical models, and business metrics.
• Support SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), and Power BI as needed.
• Investigate reporting discrepancies and ensure data accuracy and consistency.

Data Integration and Support

• Develop and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Troubleshoot data pipeline failures and data quality issues.
• Support data warehouse processes and improvements to existing data systems.
• Document technical procedures and collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

• Five or more years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration experience in production environments.
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning.
• Demonstrated experience with database maintenance, backups, recovery, security, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on Tableau Cloud administration experience, including data extracts, refreshes, permissions, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience implementing or troubleshooting row-level security in Tableau and SQL Server.
• Practical experience developing and maintaining ETL processes using SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate technical issues.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Experience with SSAS Tabular or Multidimensional models and SSRS.
• Experience with Power BI administration and report development.
• Knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and semantic layer design.
• Experience supporting enterprise reporting environments and production data platforms.

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time, 100% onsite position. The selected candidate must be able to work onsite at the Panos Foods facility located in Itasca, IL.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
