State of South Dakota, Department of Social Services / Community Behavioral Health, is seeking an Intern - Data & Outcomes Intern in Sioux Falls, SD. The role offers hands-on work with data systems and reporting to support behavioral health and social services statewide.

You will gain experience across the data lifecycle, from collection to analysis, while contributing to meaningful service improvements in a public sector setting.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part- or full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute.
• By the start of the internship, have completed one year of study.
• Preference for South Dakota residents and SD institution students.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection, transformation, and reporting using Excel, Power BI, STARS.
• Maintain and update Power BI dashboards for timely reporting.
• Support data entry, cleanup, and integration across STARS, Excel, and forms.
• Write/modify code and queries to automate data processes using DAX, M, Excel, SQL.
• Troubleshoot data issues and document data workflows.
• Collaborate on at least one analysis project aligned with agency priorities.
• Learn new technologies and adapt to evolving project needs.
