I am looking for Data Operators for a contract role for Meta.
This contract will go until the end of the year for now.
We're seeking reliable, detail-oriented Data Operators to join a cross-functional robotics team. In this role, you'll use cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to perform a wide variety of real-world tasks — cooking, cleaning, interacting with objects — generating the high-quality data that trains next-generation spatial computing models. This is a full-time, on-site contingent worker (CWX) role embedded directly with researchers and engineers on one of Meta's most ambitious initiatives.
What You'll Do
- VR Data Collection: Wear a company-provided VR headset and perform everyday tasks precisely as specified by collection protocols, capturing high-quality embodied data that teaches AI systems real-world behaviours.
- Daily Data Uploads: Securely upload all collected data daily using a proprietary application, ensuring adherence to formatting, tagging, and security standards.
- Quality Assurance: Self-audit captured sessions to ensure completeness and quality; re-collect any sessions that don't meet standards.
- Session Logging: Maintain accurate records of completed sessions, task IDs, and any anomalies or deviations encountered.
- Issue Reporting: Promptly and clearly elevate technical issues, hardware malfunctions, or protocol ambiguities to the Program Manager.
- Protocol Refinement: Contribute operator-level feedback to improve collection protocols, quality standards, and workflow efficiency over time.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with researchers, engineers, and program managers to identify edge cases, troubleshoot issues, and improve data quality for downstream model training.
- Equipment Care: Properly handle, charge, clean, and store the VR headset and peripherals at the end of each day.
What Would Make You A Great Fit
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain focus over extended periods to ensure data integrity across repetitive, structured tasks.
- Technology Proficiency: High comfort level using mobile applications, consumer electronics, and VR headsets for extended periods.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and move actively for extended periods while wearing a VR headset — many collection tasks involve active movement.
- Reliability & Time Management: Strong commitment to meeting strict daily and weekly data delivery deadlines.
- Clear Communication: Ability to promptly and clearly report technical issues, ambiguities, or roadblocks.
- Data Handling Awareness: Understanding of the importance of data security, privacy, and confidentiality standards.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to evolving protocols, new task types, and shifting project priorities as research scope expands.
- Background: Strong fits for this role include:
- Robot operators or teleoperation specialists
- Structured data collection or annotation professionals
- Individuals with hands-on VR experience (e.g., Meta Quest, Rift, or equivalent headsets)
- Anyone with a track record of precision-driven, protocol-based work
What We Offer
- Shape the future of work — your daily work directly fuels the training of next-generation embodied intelligence models
- Hands-on experience with the latest VR headsets and spatial computing tools before they reach the broader market.
- Active, dynamic workdays — move beyond a desk and perform varied real-world tasks instead of repetitive screen-based work.
- Work on-site in Menlo Park alongside leading researchers, engineers, and program managers.
- Build expertise in VR operation, structured data collection, and research workflows — valuable experience for careers in AI, robotics, and spatial computing.
- Full-time, on-site position with clear protocols, dedicated Program Manager support, and a collaborative team environment.
- 0–3 years of experience required
- If you are passionate and want hands-on involvement with cutting-edge technology, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
