JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Network Supervisor, the Data Network Technician (DNT) administers, maintains, installs, tests, troubleshoots, and monitors all networks and systems used to provide service to the company and its customers.To ensure quality of service of Range and customer data.This role actively supports other company departments and their customers with technology needs. Work-related travel is expected in this position as necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
Equipment Monitoring and Administration:
- Coordinate use of andmonitordata networkequipment, wireless equipment, transport equipment,andswitching equipment.
- Uses multiple NMS’S (network management software) tomonitorand provision customer access equipment.
- Coordinate tasks, technicians, and material to complete required jobs.
- Use multiple networksand alarm monitoring software toidentifynetwork troubles. Troubleshooting or dispatchingasneededto resolve all network issues.
- Support staff,technicians, and customers with troubleshooting network issues, hardware set up and configuring, and software issues. Components mayinclude butare not limitedtocustomer management software, broadband and voice delivery equipment,wirelessand residentialWi-Fi
- Identifyupgrades and replacements, growth, and network needs for budgetaryplanning.
- Provision,upgrade,andmaintainlayer 2 switches and somerouting.
- Provision,upgrade,andmaintainwirelessnetworks.
- Monitor anddispatchalarms.
- Testing customer broadband speeds and supporting service orders and trouble tickets.
Planning and Installation of Projects1.
- Helping other departments with service orders,troubles,and network design.
Maintenance:
- Quality assurance, preventive care, building maintenance, data backup and restoral, testing, repair, alarm handling, batterytesting.
- Traffic and Bandwidth analysis:Identify and troubleshoot customers’ equipmentand company equipment.
- Communicate in simple and comprehendible English the technical limitations,issues,or conditions that the situation demands, so that stakeholders and contacts understand and can process.
- Participate professionally as part ofvarious teams toaccomplishprojectsand resolve challenges.
- Perform testingfunctions to evaluateoutcomes, options, and build knowledge/experience toanticipatefuture challenges andproblems.
- Maintainequipmentusing SSH(Secure ShellProtocol)
- Ability toreadDLR’s (Design Layout Records)ofcircuitsas necessary.
- Maintain working knowledge and situational awareness to useappropriatespecializedequipmentwhen necessary.
- Professionally communicate with business and residential customers.Mustmaintainprofessionalism when engaging with customers, skillfullyde-escalate,and listen effective to customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION):
(A combination of demonstrable years’ experience and applicable alternative training(s) may be considered in lieu of the following qualifications).
- Successful completion of a2year /associate degreeprogramwith an Information Technology, Networking, or Telecommunications focusedmajor, oradegree from asimilarlyrelated field of study.
- A minimum of3yearsof workexperienceperformingcomplexDataNetworkrelated functions.
- A valid, state-issued, and insurable drivers’ license.

- Calix (GPON, AXOS, E7-2, C7)
- MetaswitchMCT (Class 4 or Class 5)
- Nokia ONC (Optical Network Certification)
- CompTIA Network +
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Degree:
- 4 years / bachelor’s degree with an Information Technology, Networking, or Telecommunications focused major, or a degree from a similarly related field of study.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSANDWORKING CONDITIONS:
- This roleperformsassigned work duties within a general office environment. Employeesmaybeoccasionallyexposed to changingweather conditions or contaminants. Other functions anddemands,include the following:
- Sitting / standing at an office desk for up to9hours/day or longer depending on the demands of the job.
