Job summary

Optomi, in partnership with a major client, seeks a Data Network Engineer to design, plan, and deploy enterprise data network infrastructure across LAN/WAN/WLAN with a strong Cisco focus.

Hybrid work 2–3 days per week. The ideal candidate brings 4–7 years of hands-on experience, can develop detailed engineering packages, diagrams and BOMs, and coordinate with architects, PMs and field teams while ensuring security requirements including NERC CIP.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of hands-on network engineering experience.
• Strong Cisco routing and switching expertise.
• Proven experience creating engineering/job packages.
• Experience with network diagrams using Visio and BOMs.
• Knowledge of routing protocols: GRE, IPsec, DMVPN, SD-WAN.
• Firewall administration and network security monitoring (SolarWinds, ISE, BlueCat IPAM).
• Experience coordinating multi-project deployments with NERC CIP compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, implement, and maintain enterprise data network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments.
• Develop detailed engineering/job packages, including network diagrams, BOMs, equipment specifications, and implementation documentation.
• Create step-by-step installation instructions, network configurations, and deployment packages for field technicians to execute.

• Collaborate with network architects, project managers, field technicians, and engineering teams to ensure network designs meet technical standards and project requirements.
• Coordinate network equipment procurement, configuration changes, and deployment activities while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
• Ensure network infrastructure complies with security standards and NERC CIP requirements while supporting network monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvements.

This role will focus heavily on Cisco routing and switching, LAN/WAN/WLAN network design, and the development of detailed engineering/job packages, including network diagrams, Bills of Material (BOMs), equipment specifications, and step-by-step installation instructions for field technicians. The Data Network Engineer will work closely with network architects, project managers, and field engineering teams to coordinate equipment procurement, develop network configurations, and ensure successful infrastructure deployments while maintaining compliance with corporate security standards and NERC CIP requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong hands‑on Cisco networking experience, expertise in routing protocols and network security, and a proven ability to independently develop comprehensive engineering packages and manage multiple network deployment projects.

• Proven experience creating detailed engineering/job packages, including step-by-step installation instructions, network configurations, and deployment documentation for field technicians.
• Experience developing network diagrams using Microsoft Visio, creating Bills of Material (BOMs), and coordinating network equipment specifications and procurement.
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols, including route advertisement, route filtering, route redistribution, GRE, IPsec, DMVPN, and SD-WAN.
• Hands‑on experience with firewall administration, network security, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds Orion, Cisco ISE, and BlueCat IPAM.
• Experience managing multiple network infrastructure projects, collaborating with architects and field technicians, and ensuring deployments meet security standards, including NERC CIP compliance.
