Job summary

CBRE Investment Management is seeking an Asset Domain Data Manager in New York to ensure trustworthy asset data across investment decisions, portfolio management and client reporting. You will work hands-on to assess data quality, investigate root causes and design controls that resolve issues.

You will partner with the Data Trustee, investment operations, data governance and technology teams to build domain expertise, run data quality reviews, and drive remediation programs that give investment

Qualifications

  • At least five years of hands-on experience with asset data in real estate investment management.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; a data governance or data management certification (e.g. CDMP, DCAM, OSCRE) is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to profile large, complex datasets and design practical controls.

Responsibilities

  • Review overnight data quality dashboards and triaging open Asset DQIs; reach out to business data stewards to resolve issues.
  • Apply knowledge of real estate data domains (leasing, financials, debt, valuations) to investigate quality issues with business and technical context.
  • Maintain the domain data catalogue with definitions, ownership and lineage as data products evolve.
  • Profile a complex asset data sample, investigating anomalies in financial performance metrics, conduct root cause analysis and document findings and recommended controls.
  • Author or update data quality rules and definitions in the data governance tooling with business rationale, ownership and expected outcomes.
  • Facilitate working sessions with investment or finance colleagues to align on data definitions and ownership.
  • Engage a business stakeholder on open compliance gaps, communicating issues clearly and planning remediation.
  • Participate in Domain Data Council meetings, presenting updates on data quality trends, open DQIs and improvement programs.
  • Collaborate with Digital & Technology on data product requirements or integrations involving asset data.
  • Identify opportunities to automate first-line data quality monitoring and document the business case for the Data Council.
  • Contribute to training materials for business data stewards on asset data standards and governance.

At CBREInvestment Management, asset data drives everything we do, from new investmentdecisions and managing our portfolio to client reporting. The Asset Domain Data Manager's role is to help make that data trustworthy and easy to use. You will assess data quality across our critical systems, investigate the root cause ofissues, and design and implement the controls, rules and remediation thatresolve them. You will implement reporting that shows the business whereproblems sit and who needs to act, making data quality visible and driving theteams that produce and use asset data to keep it accurate, complete andconsistent. Workingclosely with the Asset Domain Data Trustee and sub-domain trustees, and incollaboration with the investment operations, data governance and technologyteams, you will build deep expertise in the domain's business use and technicallandscape, and influence how confidently the firm acts on its data. This is ahands-on, individual-contributor role with no direct reports, focused on givinginvestment professionals and clients confidence in the data they rely on.

What you’ll Do
  • Review overnight data quality dashboards and exception reports, triaging open Asset DQIs, reaching out to business data stewards to resolve issues and escalating systemic problems to the Data Trustee
  • Apply working knowledge of real estate data domains (ie. leasing, financials, debt and valuations) and their typical source systems, to investigate quality issues with appropriate business and technical context
  • Maintain the domain data catalogue in partnership with business SMEs, keeping definitions, ownership and lineage current as data products evolve.
  • Profile a complex asset data sample, investigating anomalies in financial performance metrics, conducting root cause analysis and documenting findings and recommended controls
  • Author or update data quality rules and definitions in the data governance tooling, ensuring rules are clearly documented with business rationale, ownership and expected outcomes
  • Facilitate a working session with investment or finance colleagues to align on a data definition discrepancy, driving agreement on standard attribute definitions, acceptable values and ownership
  • Engage a business stakeholder on an open compliance gap, and communicating the issue clearly, understanding the operational context and agreeing a practical and time-bound remediation plan
  • Participate in Domain Data Council meeting, presenting a structured update on asset domain data quality trends, open DQIs and active continuously improvement programs
  • Collaborate with Digital & Technology on requirements for a new data product or integration involving asset data, providing domain expertise on data structures, quality standards and business logic
  • Identify an opportunity to enhance first-line data quality monitoring through an automated rule or agentic workflow, and document the business case for the Data Council
  • Contribute to training or guidance materials for business data stewards on asset data standards, governance expectations and how to use data quality tooling effectively
What You Need
  • At least five years of hands-on experience with asset data in real estate investment management, a REIT, commercial real estate service provider with strong familiarity with the data structures, terminology and complexity inherent in real assets private equity
  • You have a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience, in Data Science/ Analytics, Finance, Real Estate, Technology or a related field; a data governance or data management certification (e.g. CDMP, DCAM, OSCRE) is advantageous
  • You have strong analytical and investigative skills and can profile large, complex datasets, identify root causes of data quality issues and design practical, sustainable controls and remediation approaches
  • You are skilled in data programming languages (eg. SQL, Python, R) and related tools and applications
  • You build positive and productive relationships with stakeholders across investment, finance and technology functions, are assertive and clear when raising compliance gaps but collaborative and solutions-focused in how you resolve them
  • You are intellectually curious about data, technology and investment management operations, and have an appetite to develop your skills in areas such as data engineering, AI-assisted quality monitoring or agentic automation

CBRE Investment Management carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $135,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $145,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
