Job summary

Encompass Health in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Data Management Student Intern for the summer. You will support data analysts and engineers, assist with projects, and gain exposure to databases, SQL, and data integrations.

The program runs June 7–July 30, 2027, and requires pursuing a Bachelor's degree in CS, Analytics, IT, or a related field. You will participate in intern activities and present a final project to showcase your skills.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Analytics, Information Technology or relevant field
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Basic familiarity with administration of databases and SQL, standard support procedures, and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with basic security concepts, trends, and threats
• Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle concepts
• Hands-on experience with Windows and UNIX (Linux, AIX, Solaris, etc) platforms
• Must be able to work in Birmingham, Alabama from June 7, 2027 to July 30, 2027

Responsibilities

• Support data analysts and engineers with various efforts, projects, and programs
• Manage projects and tasks as assigned
• Respond to requests for assistance from business units and other internal customers
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of databases and integrations in the enterprise
• Keep the Data Management Lead apprised of activities, issues, commitments, etc.
• Complete all task and assignments accurately and timely
• Proactively seeks to learn about the company and the department
• Participates in all intern specific activities (if applicable)
• Create and present presentation on job skills learned (if applicable)

POSITION PURPOSE

The Data Management Student Intern will be assigned to appropriate department and scheduled to work for a designated period of time. The department intern will be responsible for all assigned work, projects and all other duties as assigned by the manager. Each participating department should provide intern with a detailed list of these responsibilities. If the intern is participating in the company-wide summer internship program, the intern will be required to participate in all activities and to participate in the final presentation at the end of the program.

• Familiarity with basic security concepts, trends, and threats
• Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle concepts
• Hands on experience with Windows and UNIX (Linux, AIX, Solaris, etc) platforms
• Must be able to work in our Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama from Monday, June 7th, 2027, to Friday, July 30, 2027
