Job summary

Quantech Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Link and Communication Engineer to support the C3I&N Directorate at Hanscom AFB, MA.

You will develop, integrate, test, and deploy Air Force weapon systems and associated tactical data links, ensuring interoperability and conformance to FAA, DISA, NSA, and JMPS standards. You will coordinate across DoD and inter-agency partners, plan DT&E/OT&E activities, advise IPTs and PMs on performance, schedule, and cost impacts, and apply OMS

Qualifications

Job Description

Quantech has an immediate opening for a Data Link and Communication Engineer supporting the C3I&N Directorate located at Hanscom AFB, MA. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

• The Candidate shall provide engineering expertise in the development, integration, testing, and deployment of Air Force weapon systems and their associated tactical data links, defining data link interoperability, interface definitions, and test assessment requirements.
• The Candidate shall interface across DoD, USAF, US Army, Joint communities, and inter-agency partners to ensure data link communication capabilities comply with FAA, DISA, NSA, Service Acquisition Executive, and Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) rules and technical standards.
• The Candidate shall plan and support Developmental and Operational Test and Evaluation (DT&E/OT&E) at the system and subsystem levels, interfacing with Air Combat Command, AFC2IC, JITC, NAVWAR, and organizational levels managing C3 and encryption key distribution infrastructure.
• The Candidate shall provide technical advisory support on C4 issues, including pre-launch conditioning and planning, aircraft-weapon pre- and post-release communications, real-time targeting, and cryptographic/COMSEC data distribution between sources, weapons, and controllers.
• The Candidate shall advise and assist Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Program Managers (PMs), staff engineers, and joint combined test teams on performance, schedule, and cost impacts related to communications, planning, and control architectures.
• The Candidate shall apply expertise in Tactical Platform Open Mission Systems (OMS) architectures, hardware/software processing environments, and contribute to CCWG/OCS and Government Reference Architectures.
• The Candidate shall support enterprise communications initiatives (e.g., DARPA DyNAMO, Combat Cloud) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) waveforms (AEHF, WGS, PTW, and commercial satellite waveforms such as Iridium/Inmarsat), identifying ground infrastructure integration requirements and developing associated ICDs, IERs, and DoDAF products.
• The Candidate shall define and document Link 16 and Combat Net Radio (CNR) parameter configurations and message standards (including J-Series, J11.X, and UCI message sets/schemas) to maintain interoperability across weapon platforms, ground Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs), and command systems.
• The Candidate shall develop, document, and coordinate Joint Concepts of Employment (CONEMPs) across Combatant Commands and Joint Staff agencies to support multi-service targeting handoffs, tactical data exchange networks, and warfighter training integration.
• The Candidate shall define technical specifications and interface controls for network-enabled weapon systems across threshold and objective launch/control aircraft and ground control systems (e.g., F-15E, F-35 B/C, USAF TACP-CASS, and USMC TLDHS).

Job Requirements

• Possess the ability to work independently, apply rigorous systems engineering principles, and manage complex cross-agency technical interfaces.
• Possess strong technical briefing and communication skills to interface effectively with joint military stakeholders, program offices, and operational users.
• In-depth technical proficiency with tactical data links (Link 16, UHF/CNR), MIL-STD message formats (J-Series, J11.X), OMS, and BLOS waveforms.
• Experience with Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS), DoDAF architecture development, and configuration management tools. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline and 12 years of relevant experience, at least five of which must be within the Department of Defense (DoD).
