Job description

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Healthcare Data Integration Engineering Lead in Norwalk, CT. About the Opportunity: We are seeking a senior, hands-on Healthcare Integration Engineering Lead to help build and scale the technology that moves critical healthcare data between external partners and internal systems. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who understands both software development and the healthcare claims ecosystem. You will design integrations, write production code, solve complex data exchange challenges, and work directly with healthcare partners to ensure claims, payment, provider, and other operational data moves accurately and reliably. This is not a reporting, analytics, or traditional data warehouse position. We are looking for someone who enjoys building integration solutions and staying close to the code, while also serving as a technical leader. What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and support integrations with healthcare payers, TPAs, provider organizations, and other external partners
  • Develop production solutions for exchanging healthcare data through APIs and file-based formats such as CSV, JSON, and XML
  • Build ingestion and transformation workflows that convert partner data into consistent internal data structures
  • Own integration specifications, schemas, mappings, validation rules, and technical documentation
  • Support healthcare claims and payment-related data flows, including reconciliation and downstream processing
  • Develop validation, duplicate detection, error handling, and recovery capabilities to improve data accuracy
  • Monitor production integrations and troubleshoot issues involving data quality, failed processing, or partner exchanges
  • Collaborate directly with external technical teams to launch new integrations and resolve production issues
  • Partner internally with Software Engineering, Product, Operations, Analytics, and other teams that depend on integrated healthcare data
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, integration engineering, backend development, healthcare technology, or a closely related area
  • Direct healthcare industry experience is required, ideally within health insurance, claims processing, a TPA, benefits administration, or healthcare technology
  • Strong understanding of the medical claims lifecycle, including claims processing, adjudication, payments, adjustments, and reconciliation
  • Hands-on experience designing, coding, and supporting production integrations
  • Strong experience with Python or similar backend development languages, SQL, APIs, and AWS
  • Experience building solutions involving flat-file and API-based data exchange
  • Experience with data transformation, validation, integration contracts, and standardized internal data models
  • Experience supporting production systems with an emphasis on reliability, monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work directly with external partners and translate business and technical requirements into working solutions
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on
Nice To Have
  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, or Glue
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability and transaction standards such as X12, HL7, or FHIR
  • Experience working with HIPAA-regulated healthcare data
  • Previous technical leadership or engineering mentorship experience
Why Join:

This position offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on a growing healthcare technology environment. You will have ownership over complex, business-critical integrations while helping establish the technical standards and architecture that support future growth. The role is designed for someone who wants to remain an active engineer today while expanding into broader technical and team leadership over time.

Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs.
