Job Title: Data Governance Specialist

Job Description

The Data Governance Specialist is a member of the Data Enablement team within the Analytics Center of Excellence and supports the development and operation of the medical center's enterprise data governance program. The Specialist serves as a primary administrator of the enterprise data catalog and helps ensure enterprise data and analytics assets are trusted, discoverable, well-documented, and consistently defined for both human and AI consumption.

Responsibilities

• Managing business and technical metadata
• Maintaining business glossaries, data definitions, metrics, ownership, classifications, and lineage
• Supporting data stewardship, certification, and governance workflows
• Monitoring metadata and data quality
• Coordinating resolution of governance issues with data owners, subject matter experts, analysts, and technical teams

The Specialist works across clinical, financial, operational, research, workforce, and other enterprise data domains to promote consistent definitions and appropriate use of data.

The position provides training and support to data stewards and catalog users, supports governance requirements for analytics and approved AI use cases, and monitors governance effectiveness through measures such as metadata completeness, adoption, stewardship participation, certified assets, and data quality.

When appropriate, the Specialist may use approved AI-enabled and automation tools to improve documentation, analysis, metadata management, communication, and workflow efficiency while following organizational privacy, security, compliance, and responsible-use standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, data analytics, health information management, business or related field, or equivalent relevant experience and 2 years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics, metadata management, business intelligence, or another data-intensive role. Healthcare experience preferred.
