Seeking a Data Governance Managerto drive key governance initiatives, oversee data policies, and ensure the integrity, quality, and security of data across our organization. The ideal candidate will have strongproject management, analytical, and communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across IT, business and product.

This role requiresa strong background in data governance and management, knowledge of SQL or preliminary coding skills, and the ability todefine success metricsthat measure the impact of governance initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute Governance Frameworks – Implement and maintaindata governance policies, procedures, and best practicesas directed by the Director of Data Gov. to ensure data quality, consistency, security, and compliance
  • Drive Governance Projects – Lead and manage day-to-day execution of assigned projects, set clear objectives, track progress, and report status updates to leadership
  • Support Success Metrics – Develop and maintain dashboards, KPI to measure data governance effectiveness and surface insights to the team
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally – Coordinate withIT, business, operations and product teamsto execute on governance tasks aligned to cross-functional objectives outlined
  • Monitor & Improve Data Quality – Partner with data stewards and owners to implementdata quality controls, metadata management, and data lineage tracking
  • Support Access & Compliance – Ensure compliance withdata privacy and regulatory requirements(e.g., HIPPA, CCPA) and manage contract-based access control frameworks
  • Educate & Advocate – Provide training to stakeholders, promoting a culture of data stewardship and accountability
  • Stay Ahead of Trends – Keep up with evolving data governance methodologies, tools, and regulatory changes, recommending process enhancements as needed

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 8 + yearsof experience indata governance, data management, or related fields
  • 8+ years of experience indata governance principles, frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK, DGI), and regulatory compliance
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL or preliminary coding to support data validation and governance automation
  • 5+ years of experience in strong project management, including handling multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • 5+ years of experience defining meaningful success metrics and tracking progress
  • 5+ years of experience translating business needs intoscalable governance solutions
  • Ability to work standard daytime hours in the Pacific time zone

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience withdata governance tools(e.g.,Databricks, Collibra, Informatica, Alation)

Soft Skills:

  • Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence cross-functional teams

The salary range for this role is $89,800to $176,700annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
