Job summary

Surescripts, a leader in health data exchange, seeks a Data Governance Engineer to join the Data Trust & Enablement team within the Enterprise Data Platform. This role focuses on automating data quality, governance, and certification across the data products.

You will embed governance into development lifecycles, extend metadata and trust capabilities, and partner with data engineers, architects, and product teams to ensure data accuracy and trust at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business administration, or related field.
• 2+ years in data engineering or data platform development with focus on reliability and observability.
• Experience with Collibra data quality, Monte Carlo, Great Expectations, or equivalent.
• Hands-on data validation frameworks and observability pipelines in cloud environments.
• Strong SQL and BigQuery or equivalent data warehouse experience.

Responsibilities

• Help architect and build the foundational data governance framework across completeness, accuracy, freshness, consistency, and fitness for purpose.
• Translate data quality concepts into measurable, automatable rules at scale.
• Develop data contracts and tooling to catch violations before downstream delivery.
• Integrate governance checks into developer workflows to make quality default.
• Contribute to metadata platform (data catalog, lineage, tagging) for trust scoring and impact analysis.
• Design automated data asset certification pathways and integrate with Collibra.
