Position : Data Governance Architect

Overview:

We are seeking a senior Data Governance Architect to lead a data governance project. This individual will work on assessing data governance needs, aligning stakeholders, and guiding the definition of priorities and roadmap activities. The architect will play a pivotal role in shaping and supporting the long-term governance strategy, both through immediate discovery and in an ongoing advisory and delivery leadership capacity.

Role Responsibilities:

• Build a roadmap and a governance implementation strategy
• Conduct stakeholder interviews and facilitate a focused Data Governance Workshop
• Assess current-state governance maturity, policies, tools, and organizational roles
• Help articulate a vision and framework for future-state governance aligned with client goals
• Collaborate with internal product owners and cross-functional teams to identify key needs and priorities
• Serve as a trusted advisor on governance-related initiatives, offering structure and guidance as the client advances through roadmap activities
• Provide ongoing leadership and coordination across governance-related workstreams, such as classification, retention, lineage, or data access models
• Partner with client product leads to clarify priorities, manage dependencies, and support implementation through delivery oversight and strategic input
• Adjust governance approaches as organizational maturity evolves

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 7+ years of experience in data governance, information architecture, or related domains
• Proven experience designing or operationalizing governance frameworks in complex environments
• Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft Purview (SharePoint Advanced Management experience is a plus)
• Comfort engaging with product owners, security leads, analytics teams, and business units to drive consensus
• Deep knowledge of:
• Metadata and Data Cataloging Practices
• Master and Reference Data Strategies
• Data Classification and Sensitivity Labeling
• Data Quality and Lifecycle Management
• Privacy and Compliance Requirements
• Ability to guide strategic conversations and balance long-term governance vision with near-term execution support
• Prior experience in public-sector or regulated industries preferred
