Job summary

Advance Local is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to strengthen our GRC program in a hybrid Jersey City office. You’ll lead data governance, risk controls, and compliance efforts to safeguard information and improve data quality.

You will partner with engineering and business teams, develop classification standards, and drive privacy compliance including CCPA, while delivering dashboards and metrics to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in GRC, data governance, data management, or a related role.
• Experience leading cross-discipline project teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
• Understanding of online privacy issues is a plus.
• Knowledge of media industry and digital audience analytics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define, document, and maintain data governance and quality procedures.
• Drive data classification, dictionaries, metadata, and lineage documentation.
• Define and enforce standards for PII handling and data retention.
• Provide training to business stakeholders, data owners, and data stewards.
• Generate reports and dashboards to track governance performance and risk indicators.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, data engineering, and enterprise services on access and data flows.
• Support data quality initiatives including profiling, monitoring, and remediation.
• Analyze data assets to identify integrity issues and drive remediation.
• Act as policy-layer owner for data platforms and exports, aligning governance in pipelines.
• Ensure adherence to CCPA and state privacy laws.
• Coordinate with legal, infrastructure, and business teams to resolve governance issues.
• Support risk assessments and contribute to audits.
• Manage incident escalation procedures.
• Monitor infrastructure security issues with engineering for stability.
• Surface findings to data leadership and align policy with governance.
• Develop automation scripts to streamline processes.
• Use ITSM systems to manage requests and incidents.
