Job description

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves, and build a better world – together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

Do you believe data is one of the most valuable assets in an enterprise? We do! Redefining mobility requires data that is secure, compliant, accessible, and used responsibly across the organization. That’s where Global Data Insight & Analytics (GDI&A) makes an impact. We partner with business, legal, security, and technology teams to establish the governance, privacy safeguards, and data-use practices that allow Ford to unlock the value of data while protecting customers and the enterprise.

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Analyst focused on Data Privacy and Use. In this role, you will be part of a global team of subject matter experts with backgrounds in data management, information technology and security, risk management, automotive, and consulting. You will help ensure customer and enterprise data are efficiently utilized as governed enterprise assets while supporting compliance with data privacy, security, access-management, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include processing data-use requests, assessing privacy requirements, conducting data analysis, and working across legal, business, security, risk, and application-development teams to implement appropriate safeguards. By leveraging your data governance knowledge, technical skills, and collaborative mindset, you will help enable compliant, secure, and responsible data usage at enterprise scale.

  • Process manual requests received through the Data Activation Portal (DAP)
  • Analyze customer and stakeholder needs to identify applicable privacy requirements and approval considerations
  • Leverage analytics tools and platforms, including GCP BigQuery, Alteryx, R, and Python, to analyze data, identify trends, and support privacy and data-governance initiatives
  • Utilize database technologies such as SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB to extract, transform, and load data for analysis and reporting in alignment with data governance policies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), business functions such as Human Resources, and IT organizations including Security, Risk Management, and Application Development
  • Support the definition and implementation of privacy safeguards within a global data environment
  • Understand and support data-security requirements across functional areas, including Ford Credit, Marketing, Sales & Service, Product Development, and regional KPI and metrics initiatives
  • Support compliance activities, including GDPR and CCPA audits, OICs, access reviews, and related governance assessments
  • Escalate privacy, data-use, and compliance issues through appropriate forums and work cross-functionally to develop technical solutions
  • Serve as a data governance subject matter expert, demonstrating a strong understanding of data-management principles and responsible data-use practices
  • Partner with data stewards to ensure information is used in accordance with compliance, access-management, and control policies
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of country- and region-specific data-security and privacy laws and regulations, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to enhance Ford’s enterprise data governance model
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve existing data governance, privacy review, and approval processes
  • Manage multiple workstreams concurrently while maintaining clear documentation, stakeholder communication, and timely execution

We recognize that no one person will embody every single quality or skill listed below. If you are passionate about data privacy, responsible data use, and enterprise data governance, we encourage you to apply.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered
  • Master’s degree preferred, with a focus in Data Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in business requirements analysis, business process management, project management, consulting, data management, or a related role
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders across business, legal, privacy, security, risk, and technology organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams within a fast-paced, complex enterprise environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, customer-service, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and drive issues toward practical solutions

Required Technical Experience:

  • Knowledge of data management tools, data standards, and enterprise data governance practices
  • Experience using data analytics and reporting tools, such as GCP BigQuery, Alteryx, R, Python, or similar technologies
  • Familiarity with database technologies and querying, including SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or comparable platforms
  • Understanding of data privacy, access management, security controls, and responsible data-use principles
  • Experience translating business, privacy, and compliance needs into clear requirements, approval criteria, and process improvements
  • Strong organizational skills and a process-improvement mindset

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of data engineering tools and enterprise data governance practices
  • Understanding of compliance, regulatory, and privacy requirements, including GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, and similar frameworks
  • Prior experience creating data-protection controls and standards using privacy frameworks
  • ISACA, CISSP, or related privacy, risk, security, or governance certifications
  • Experience with project-management methods and frameworks, including Agile delivery practices
  • Familiarity with existing ACR, ICR, and SCRP processes
  • Experience supporting data privacy audits, access reviews, regulatory assessments, or data-use approval workflows
