Job summary

Superhuman is hiring a Data Engineer for the Data Foundations team to design and operate large-scale data pipelines and data lakes using Spark/Databricks. You will help ingest billions of events daily and shape the data platform that powers product and analytics.

You'll collaborate across product, backend, ML, and data science teams, own data quality and observability, and contribute to the technical roadmap while delivering reliable, scalable data solutions in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years running live production environments with high-load workflows.
• Proficient in SQL and Python; deep Spark experience and modern lakehouse/cloud data warehouse.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT design, orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, Dagster), CI/CD for data.
• Data modeling and data warehouse design; focus on data quality and observability.
• Hands-on experience with Delta Lake, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams; ownership mindset.
• Think big-picture, handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-starter with principled approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and own large-scale data pipelines and lakes.
• Ensure data availability, security, and scalable real-time/batch processing.
• Own data quality, freshness, and reliability with checks and monitoring.
• Build ETL frameworks and tooling for self-serve data products.
• Partner with product, back-end, ML, and data science teams.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape the team's technical roadmap.
