Job summary

Transportation Authority is offering a Data and Forecasting Internship focused on transportation modeling and data analysis. You will support the SF-CHAMP activity-based travel demand model, contribute to dashboards, and assist with planning studies.

Ideal candidates have a background in travel forecasting or urban planning, with graduate coursework in relevant fields and strong data skills. Internship requires 20 hours/week for 12 weeks, with preference for 40 hours/week for 6 months.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in travel forecasting and urban transportation planning is required.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations is required.
• Proficiency with computer programming, mapping and spatial analysis (e.g. using ArcGIS), database management, statistical analysis, and experience with transportation planning and analysis software is desired.
• At least one semester in a relevant graduate level discipline is desired, but experience or education in other fields may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, maintaining, and applying SF-CHAMP travel demand models.
• Develop and expand dashboards to expand access to model outputs and data.
• Support planning studies, policy work, and data-driven transportation planning.
