Job summary

Brodart Co. is seeking a materials handler in Williamsport, PA under supervision to move and process materials in the Books Production area. Responsibilities include unloading, unpacking, labeling, and paperwork, plus operating pallet jacks and book trucks to move items to designated areas.

The role requires standing for 8 hours, occasional heavy lifting up to 70 lbs, and strict adherence to safety and attendance policies. Overtime may be required based on production needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• PC Proficiency and good typing skills; ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Flexible to make appropriate decisions regarding safety in handling materials and responsive to changing environments.
• Ability to work effectively with co-workers and to follow company rules and standards.
• Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hour shifts and lift up to 70 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming materials on skids and boxes, unpack, remove plastic and banding, and secure related paperwork.
• Move materials using pallet jacks or book trucks to storage or worksites as required.
• Load and unload materials, rack and shelve by hand, and record data on paperwork.
• May use equipment to crush cardboard, using protective safety glasses.
• Attend to duties with regular attendance and punctuality and perform other duties as directed.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas, including trash removal and floor sweeping.
• Cross-train and substitute tasks as directed by supervision.

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Books Production or his designee, this position provides for the efficient handling and movement of materials to and from designated areas in the facility as may be required for processing of product.

• Responsible to handle incoming materials on skids and boxes, unpacking, removing plastic and banding from skid and securing related paperwork.
• Responsible to lift, carry and or utilize a pallet jack or book truck to move various materials, as instructed or ascertained from order requirements, to and from storage or worksites to designated areas in the facility.
• Loads and unloads materials, racking and shelving by hand, may count items and record necessary data on attached paperwork.
• May use equipment to crush cardboard, which requires use of protective safety glasses.
• Responsible to perform other duties of equal or lesser classification irrespective of required change in department, hours (including mandatory overtime) or work conditions as directed by supervisor.
• Responsible for regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Maintain safe, clean and organized work areas, emptying trash cans and barrels and sweeping of floors, as needed.
• Cross training and substitution of tasks that may be of higher classification as required by supervision.

• This position is subject to scheduled overtime which may be required based on production needs.
