Job summary

Brodart Co. in Williamsport, PA is seeking 8 laborers/helpers to support production operations in a fast-paced book processing environment.

You will unload and reload materials, assemble and package books, and follow safety guidelines while maintaining attendance and quality standards; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Finger dexterity and ability to read a ruler.
• Ability to read and follow written or verbal instructions, count accurately.

Responsibilities

• Unload materials for processing and reload after completion.
• Pocketer: glue kits into books per process codes.
• Sizer: measure books with a ruler and pull jackets.
• Inserter: insert dust jackets and apply protection tapes.
• Gluer: glue or tape jackets onto books per codes.
• Biller: handle paperwork and check book quality.
• Maintain attendance, safety, and clean work areas; overtime may occur.
• Cross-train for higher classifications as directed.

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Production, this position provides forthe efficient processing of materials as may be required to satisfy customer orders.Responsible to unload materials in preparation for processing and to re-load materials upon completion.

• Pocketer - Glues kits into books according to process codes.
• Sizer - Measures each book with a ruler and pulls a plastic jacket to fit each book.
• Inserter - Inserts dust cover into a plastic jacket, books without dust cover get protection tapes over the spine labels.
• Gluer - Glues or tapes jackets onto books according to process codes.
• Biller - Takes care of paperwork and checks the books for quality.
• Responsible to perform other duties of equal or lesser classification irrespective of required change in department, hours (including mandatory overtime) or work conditions as directed by supervisor.
• Responsible for regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Maintain safe, clean and organized work areas.
• Cross training and substitution of tasks that may be of higher classification as required by supervision.

• Ability to read and follow written or verbal instructions, accurately count and have good eyesight.
• Flexible to make appropriate decisions regarding safety in handling materials and respond to changing work environments.
• Ability to work/communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers and to adhere to Brodart rules, policies and standards of conduct.
• Must be able to work in a production environment that may be subject to varied temperatures and other conditions, such as noise (conveyor), dust and glue or adhesives.
• Must be able to stand/walk for 8hour shifts and possess the ability to frequently bend and lift 35 lbs and up to 50 lbs occasionally and push book trucks weighing several hundred pounds.
• This position is subject to scheduled overtime which may be required based on production needs.
