Job summary

TikTok USDS Joint Venture is seeking a Tech Lead Manager for the Data BP team in the US. You will lead a team of data engineers maintaining and scaling one of the world's largest data platforms supporting TikTok's US data ecosystem.

You will partner with Product, Analytics and Data Science to translate business needs into scalable data solutions, define data quality frameworks, and drive end-to-end delivery while upholding data governance and security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 5+ years of experience building and scaling enterprise-grade data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with big data processing and distributed storage engines (Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Druid, ClickHouse).
• Deep understanding of data architectures including data lakes, data warehouses and lakehouse patterns.
• Strong SQL and Python proficiency for data processing and analytics.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

Team Introduction: The Data BP team on Data Platform USDS is focused on ensuring the stability, reliability, scalability and risk management of TikTok's US data processing ecosystem. We maintain and operate both batch and streaming pipelines for multiple vertical businesses such as TikTok, TikTok Shop, TikTok Live while simultaneously adhering to strict data compliance standards. We collaborate with a host of internal teams to better enable user experience by delivering high quality at scale.

As a Tech Lead Manager in the Data BP team, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of data engineers in maintaining, optimizing and scaling one of the world's largest data platforms that directly supports TikTok app in the US. Your work will have a direct and huge impact on the company's core products as well as hundreds of millions of users.

• Lead and manage a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership and continuous improvement.
• Oversee project management and cross functional collaboration ensuring high quality delivery across project lifecycle.
• Design and build scalable big data platforms, pipelines and services supporting large-scale batch and real-time data processing.
• Define and drive architecture standards, including data modeling, pipeline design and data quality frameworks to ensure trusted datasets.
• Own end-to-end delivery of data solutions from design through development, testing, deployment and optimization.
• Partner with Product, Analytics, Data Science and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Define key metrics and leverage data to measure performance, guide prioritization and support decision making.
• Optimize large-scale data processing systems for performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Establish strong execution practices, including planning, prioritization and delivery governance across multiple initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy and security standards in all data solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts and data insights effectively to both technical and executive audiences.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience building and scaling enterprise-grade data platforms in large scale distributed data systems with at least 3+ years of experience in engineering leadership or engineering management role overseeing technical teams in a cross functional and fast-paced environment.
• Hands on experience in building scalable data solutions with big data processing and distributed storage engines such as Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Druid, ClickHouse etc.
• Deep understanding of modern data architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses and lakehouse patterns.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python(or equivalent language) for data processing and analytics.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience optimizing large-scale data systems for performance and efficiency.
• Ability to influence data strategy and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $198360 - $416100 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
