Publicis Sapient is seeking a Manager Data Engineering to lead a 3-5 person data engineering team, guiding data platform initiatives and cloud migrations. The role blends hands-on SQL Server DBA work with modern data engineering practices, partnering with PMs to ensure successful delivery.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in data roles, experience with self-hosted DBs and PaaS migrations, and strong DataOps focus. This is a high-impact data leadership role in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data architecture, database administration, or data engineering.
• Strong hands-on SQL Server DBA experience including performance tuning and HA/DR.
• Proven experience leading small engineering teams (5-7 members).
• Experience designing self-hosted DB environments (IaaS).
• Experience migrating databases to PaaS/cloud-managed services.
• Solid DataOps knowledge: monitoring, reliability, and performance.
• Experience building data pipelines using SSIS, Glue, Python.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for data platforms (Liquibase, Python).
• Experience with BI tools (SSRS, Tableau, PowerBI).
• Strong collaboration with PM/Management; data security knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a 3-5 data engineers team across tracks.
• Collaborate with PMs to plan, prioritize, and execute data initiatives.
• Drive delivery accountability and operational excellence.
• Provide architectural guidance across data workstreams.
• Oversee data platform setup, config, and maintenance (SQL Server, Aurora).
• Lead database admin activities: tuning, HA/DR, backups, upgrades.
• Define access control, governance, security best practices.
• Drive DataOps monitoring and performance optimization.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for deployments (Liquibase, Python).
• Lead data migration efforts SQL Server to PaaS/cloud-native.
• Support ETL/ELT design and optimization across pipelines.
