Job summary

Jobot is seeking a hands-on Data Engineering Manager in Plano to lead a distributed team and shape the future of our data platform. This player/coach role blends technical leadership, architecture, and mentoring.

You will design scalable data pipelines on Azure, drive AI-ready infrastructure, and partner with business stakeholders to deliver value while maintaining governance and best practices.

Qualifications

• Leads Data Engineering teams and mentors a distributed group of engineers.
• Builds and evolves modern cloud-based data platforms, preferably on Azure.
• Supports enterprise data warehousing, lakehouse, or cloud analytics environments.
• Demonstrates strong SQL and modern data engineering technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers with technical guidance and day-to-day leadership.
• Design and evolve enterprise data architecture for scalability and security.
• Build and optimize modern data pipelines across multiple business systems.
• Drive migration to a modern cloud-based data platform and Azure-based solutions.
• Partner with AI engineers and business leaders to deliver data infrastructure for analytics/AI initiatives.
• Establish engineering standards, governance, and data quality practices.

Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 per year

Job Details

• Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and day-to-day leadership.
• Design and evolve the company's enterprise data architecture, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and built for long-term growth.
• Build and optimize modern data pipelines that move data reliably across multiple business systems.
• Drive the organization's migration and adoption of a modern cloud-based data platform while improving existing Azure-based data solutions.
• Partner closely with AI engineers and business leaders to deliver the data infrastructure needed for analytics and AI initiatives.
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and governance around data quality, modeling, documentation, and deployment.
• Make architectural decisions around data modeling, medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold), semantic models, and platform scalability.
• Lead sprint planning, project execution, and delivery using Azure DevOps while balancing multiple priorities.
• Work directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, automation, and operational efficiency across the data platform.

What We're Looking For

• Experience leading Data Engineering teams
• Strong hands‑on experience building modern cloud‑based data platforms, preferably within Azure
• Experience with enterprise data warehousing, lakehouse, or cloud analytics environments
• Strong understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, dimensional modeling, and data integration
• Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data engineering technologies
• Knowledge of layered data architectures, semantic modeling, and enterprise data governance
• Experience with Agile development and project management tools
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to balance architecture and strategy with hands‑on technical problem‑solving
