Lake Michigan Credit Union in Grand Rapids is seeking a Manager, Data Engineering to lead the data engineering function, shaping enterprise data models and pipelines to empower self-service analytics across the organization.

You will oversee Senior Data Engineers, establish standards for data modeling and ETL/ELT, and ensure scalable, secure data solutions while collaborating with BI, Governance, and Infrastructure teams to meet business priorities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data architecture, or data platform development and leadership responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric/OneLake, Data Factory, SQL Server, and modern cloud data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT design, dimensional modeling, and data governance practices.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python with data pipeline testing, observability, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop Senior Data Engineers, including workload priorities, sprint commitments, and performance feedback.
• Establish and maintain enterprise standards for data modeling, ETL/ELT, orchestration, and data product patterns.
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of data pipelines and data models across core platforms.
• Ensure data pipelines are secure, reliable, and well-documented with lineage and quality controls.
• Partner with BI, Data Governance, Engineering, and stakeholders to translate needs into scalable solutions.
• Enable trusted self-service analytics by delivering governed data products for reporting and analytics.
