Job summary

Starbucks Technology Nashville is seeking a data engineer lead to design, build, and govern enterprise data services for analytics. You’ll lead a team delivering batch and real-time pipelines, work on automation and deployment tools, and shape data governance and retention policies. Strong expertise in Hadoop/Spark, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud platforms is required.

Onsite four days a week in Nashville. You will mentor engineers, collaborate across teams, and ensure scalable, high-performance data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or related discipline.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5-7+ years Architect and design large scale high performance distributed systems.
• 5-7+ years Hadoop, YARN, MapReduce, Pig or Hive, Spark
• 2+ years Data platform implementation on Azure or AWS is a plus
• 2+ years CI/CD experience
• 2+ years Exposure to SOA architecture
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and No-SQL Platforms

Responsibilities

• Lead data engineering team to build and support batch, distributed and real-time data pipelines.
• Translate strategic requirements into technical designs meeting business needs.
• Automate deployment of environments and monitor resource usage.
• Define architecture within a consistent framework.
• Lead resolution of complex data issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Define data retention and governance policies.
• Mentor team members and coordinate with peers, vendors, and others.
• Document systems and projects; evaluate performance trade-offs.
