Job summary

Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) offers a Data Engineering Intern position in Wichita, KS, joining the Data and Analytics team to develop and improve data pipelines using AWS, Snowflake, SQL, Python, and dbt on real‑world projects.

You will collaborate with data scientists, architects, and business partners, gaining hands‑on cloud platform experience while contributing to data architecture and governance in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Computer Science, MIS, Data Engineering or related field with at least one semester remaining.
• Proficient in Python through coursework, projects, or internships.
• Experience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from relational databases.
• Curiosity and hands-on experience with AI/ML tools or a willingness to learn and apply them safely.
• Eligible for full‑time employment by June 20208.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Architects, Analytics Engineers, and stakeholders to translate problems into technical solutions.
• Clean, transform, and integrate data from various sources (structured and unstructured).
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and optimize data workflows.
• Document data architecture, workflows, and best practices.
• Develop and maintain data integrations, pipelines, and repositories using SQL, Python, dbt, and scripting languages.
• Analyze data details to identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Own assigned projects and troubleshoot issues independently.
• Design and model data solutions using Kimball dimensional modeling principles.
• Gain exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and Snowflake.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and adopt best practices in project management.
