Buildertrend is seeking a Data Engineering Intern in Omaha, NE for the summer. You will help build ELT/ETL pipelines, work with SQL Server and Salesforce, and turn raw data into clean datasets powering BI, analytics and AI initiatives.

You’ll learn Databricks and dbt, document pipelines, and collaborate with engineers and analysts. This on-site internship includes summer housing, daily lunches, and growth in data engineering skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field.
• Available to work full-time onsite at the Buildertrend HQ in Omaha, NE, for the summer.
• Familiar with SQL and at least one programming language such as Python.
• Curiosity about data tools and frameworks like Databricks and dbt, and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines from sources like SQL Server and Salesforce to clean datasets.
• Write SQL to transform, model and prepare data for BI, analytics and ML use cases.
• Partner with Data Engineers, Analysts and stakeholders to define dataset needs.
• Learn Databricks and dbt and apply bronze/silver/gold data organization guidance.
• Write data quality checks and document table definitions and column notes.
• Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate coding while ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Complete tasks within sprint timelines.

You'll work alongside experienced data engineers, get hands-on with a modern data stack, and learn how raw data from tools like Salesforce and SQL Server becomes curated, trustworthy datasets that power our BI, analytics and AI initiatives. We don't expect you to already know every framework we use. We're looking for curiosity, solid fundamentals and a real interest in the craft of data engineering.
