About the Role

As a Data Engineer at Kumon North America, you will contribute to the design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers. This role will focus on designing and optimizing, and analyzing complex datasets while building and supporting data-driven applications and backend services using the .NET platform.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in .NET development, but SQL and data analysis must be a core strength. This person should be comfortable working with large dataset, investigating data issues, optimizing performance, and supporting business‑critical reporting needs.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
  • Perform advanced data analysis to identify trends and insights
  • Tune queries and database structures for performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into accurate data solutions
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across systems
  • System reporting, audits, and analytical use cases with reliable, well‑structured datasets
  • Develop and maintain .NET (C#) applications and APIs that interact with data systems
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands‑on SQL experience with proven expertise in complex queries and optimization
  • Strong experience with .NET / C# development
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex data analysis using SQL
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, indexing strategies, and query execution plans
  • Experience working in collaborative, cross‑functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting analytics or reporting
  • Knowledge of ETL processes / data integration processes
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI or SSRS
  • Experience with Azure / cloud technologies
  • Experience supporting production systems and incident solution
Key Responsibilities
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects.
  • Perform in‑depth data analysis to support business needs and resolve issues
  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using .NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET, Web API, etc.)
  • Investigate and resolve application and data‑related production issues
  • Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Develop and support reports, dashboards, and data extracts
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance across systems
  • Support deployments, testing, and system upgrades as needed
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams including QA and support team
  • You’ll join a small development team (approximately 8-10 cross‑functional team) and work closely with QA and business partners.
  • The environment is collaborative and team‑oriented, requiring strong communication and comfort receiving and providing feedback.
