Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to conduct design, implement, and operate data management systems for intelligence needs. The successful candidate will design how data will be stored, accessed, used, integrated, and managed by different data regimes and digital systems. An employee in this position will work with data users to determine, create, and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.

This position will be based in Washington, D.C., or Aurora, Colorado. This is an opportunity to get in on the "ground level" of a new and exciting program with a critical Department of War (DoW) customer. An active TS/SCI (w/poly is highly desired.

What you will do
  • Plan, design, and optimize data throughput and query performance.
  • Participate in the selection of backend database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, HPC, etc.), their configuration and utilization, and the optimization of the full data pipeline infrastructure to support the actual content, volume, ETL, and periodicity of data to support the intended kinds of queries and analysis to match expected responsiveness.
What you need to have
  • Must possess a TS/SCI clearance with a poly (or ability to obtain)
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting analysis using data engineering, with at least a portion of experience within the last 2 years
  • Deep experience using various data engineering tools and technologies (SQL, NoSQL, HPC, etc.) and of the ETL process, especially as it pertains to US Government customer systems
What we'd like you to have
  • Current poly
  • Master's degree in data science, data engineering, computer science, mathematics, or another related field (an additional 5 years of experience may be substituted for this requirement)
  • At least 12 years of experience supporting analysis using data engineering, with at least a portion of experience within the last 2 years
  • Experience working creating products for Object Based Intelligence purposes
  • Experience within the DoW and/or the US Intelligence Community
