Mercari in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Software Engineer, Data to build and scale our data infrastructure across the marketplace. You will design data pipelines, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and apply governance and security best practices to ensure reliable data-driven decision making.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in data engineering, strong GCP experience, and proficiency in Python or SQL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/DS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years experience in data engineering.
• Experience with GCP data services (BigQuery, Dataform, Dataflow, Pub/Sub).
• Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines for data processing.
• Strong data modeling and ETL knowledge.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL or TypeScript.
• Strong ability to solve business problems with data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines on GCP.
• Optimize data processing for performance and cost.
• Write data quality tests to ensure reliability.
• Collaborate with data teams on complex data models.
• Mentor junior engineers and review code.
• Contribute to technical docs and architecture decisions.
