Job summary

POET is seeking a Data Engineer to build reliable analytics systems, ingest data from plants and markets, and empower researchers, grain buyers, marketers, and engineers to answer tough questions. The role collaborates across business units to align with project goals and deliver scalable data solutions.

You will develop ELT/ETL pipelines, ensure data quality, and support stakeholders with self-serve analytics tools in an on-site Sioux Falls environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree required; degrees in engineering, CS, or hard sciences preferred.
• 0–5 years (Entry) / 5–10 years (Mid) / 10+ years (Senior) experience spans the range.
• Proficient in Agile methodologies, distributed systems, orchestration tools, high-availability data systems, database design, and DevOps (infrastructure as code, automated deployment).
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn new programs.

Responsibilities

• Build partnerships with business units to align with project goals.
• Design and oversee enterprise data solutions (Senior Level).
• Develop and maintain data storage solutions (Senior level).
• Build data pipelines to automate collection, cleaning, and transformation (Entry Level+).
• Optimize data storage and retrieval for performance and scalability (Senior Level).
• Ensure data quality and integrity through validation and monitoring (Entry Level+).
• Work with analysts and stakeholders to provide tools that drive projects to completion (Entry Level+).
