Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and operate data pipelines across Databricks, Azure, and Snowflake. You will own data products end-to-end, from ingestion and modeling through quality, governance, and serving, enabling analytics and decision-making for engineers, operators, and data scientists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building and operating production data pipelines.
• Deep understanding of Apache Spark and distributed data processing.
• Strong Python (PySpark) and SQL production code skills.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog).
• Experience with Azure Data Factory and ADLS or equivalents in Azure-first environment.
• Experience with Snowflake or equivalent (BigQuery, Redshift).
• Experience building real-time and batch pipelines (Structured Streaming, Kafka).
• Solid data modeling skills and ability to deliver well-documented datasets.
• Experience implementing data quality, validation, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable batch and real-time data pipelines on Databricks and Azure Data Factory, landing data in ADLS and Snowflake.
• Implement medallion (bronze/silver/gold) architecture with Delta Lake and Delta Live Tables for reliable incremental processing.
• Build and tune PySpark/Spark SQL jobs for large-scale data processing with performance optimization.
• Ingest and process high-volume IoT and historian data via streaming frameworks and micro-batch patterns.
• Model curated, analytics-ready datasets and serving layers with clear documentation.
• Implement automated data quality frameworks with validation, profiling, anomaly detection, and alerting.
• Establish and enforce data governance using Unity Catalog with lineage and semantic layer.
• Apply software engineering discipline to data: version control, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with analysts to deliver datasets powering dashboards in BI tools.
