Job summary

National Center for Defense Manufacturing seeks a Data Engineer to join the America Makes program. You will lead data integration, structuring, and hosting within the CORE repository to support 200+ active projects across design, processing, materials, and inspection data.

You will set strategy for data quality, provenance, and reuse, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help translate complex manufacturing data into accessible, searchable insights for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in developing and managing manufacturing data pipelines, data management practices, and database architectures.
• Strong time management and planning abilities.
• Ability to lead discussions and work as part of a team.
• Willingness to ask questions and seek feedback.
• Strong communication about project plans and risk.
• Excellent note-taking and knowledge retention.

Responsibilities

• Understand, develop, and improve data management principles for the America Makes program.
• Facilitate integration, structuring, and storage of project data within CORE.
• Address data management capability gaps and ensure data reuse.
• Stay aware of state-of-the-art data pedigree, data structures, essential variables, and data models for advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Manage the quality and reuse of America Makes data assets.
